Tile Flooring
What Is Tile Flooring?
Tile flooring is a flooring method of utilizing materials cut into sized tiles available in an almost endless aray of sizes and materials, from natural to synthetic.
What types of tile flooring are there?
Some of the most common types available are…
- Ceramic
- Hardwood
- Laminate
- Vinyl
- Natural Stone
Natural Tile Flooring
Whether ceramic or stone, natural tile comes in many different forms.
Resilient Tile Flooring
Resilient tile flooring is available in patterns that imitate ceramic or natural stone and come in various sizes, with 12" sq. being most common.
Resilient tile is durable, waterproof, stain resistant and easy to keep clean. Other types of synthetic tile flooring include asphalt and rubber tile.
How is tile flooring installed?
Installation depends on the tile itself and the surface where being applied
Each flooring tile brand is different, and each manufacturer includes specific instructions for installation. Many flooring tile installations are possible for many do-it-yourselfers capable of wielding a straightedge, tape measure, and carpenter's level.
If you plan on a self-installation, it is a good idea to order tile for the entire project plus an additional 10 percent more to cover breakage and replacement and the possible miscue. Tiles can be installed over most structurally sound floors, but for new or uneven surfaces, or elaborate installations, considering a licensed professional might be a good idea.
